If you like barbecue and live music, the nation’s largest Black-owned brewery has a party planned for Saturday to celebrate Black History Month.

Tickets are on sale for Full Circle Brewery’s third annual Black History Month Party & BBQ Cook Off. Prominent Fresno rapper Planet Asia will headline the concert.

The cook-off begins at noon with the concert starting at 5 p.m. at Full Circle’s downtown location, 712 Fulton St. Tickets, priced from $5 to $50, are available at this link.

“As the nation’s largest Black-owned brewery, Full Circle is thrilled to host a Black History Month celebration showcasing local chefs, vendors, fellow Black-owned breweries, and artists. We are committed to raising awareness about the underrepresentation of Black brewers, with less than 1% of the over 8,000 breweries in the U.S. being Black-owned,” said Arthur Moye, CEO of Full Circle.

Full Circle’s BBQ Event Grows

The brewery’s Black History Month party and barbecue drew about 600 people in 2023, said Adam Band, director of National Chain Accounts for Full Circle. This year, they wanted to add a concert.

One of the biggest names in rap to call Fresno home, Planet Asia, will headline the event. Rapping since the 1990s, Planet Asia has collaborated with names such as Sean Price and Pharoahe Monch. Planet Asia’s song “G’s & Soldiers,” featuring Kurupt, appeared on the soundtrack of the 2005 John Travolta movie “Be Cool.”

Also performing is MC Wicks, an up-and-coming Fresno rapper. Rappers Otis Reed and Omar Aura will also perform.

VIP tickets include a meet-and-greet with performers.

On the food side, six different competitors will vie for the title of best barbecue.

Full Circle earned the title of the largest Black-owned brewery in the nation after merging with San Francisco-based Speakeasy Ales and Lagers.
