Megan Rupe, the morning anchor at CBS 47, has found new work 3,000 miles east.

She announced on Facebook she is joining WJLA, the ABC affiliate in Washington, DC. She’s been with CBS 47 and sister station KSEE since 2014.

“KSEE24 was my very first home in the news industry. I started as an intern in college–chasing reporters all over town and trying to absorb every piece of advice. It’s been almost a decade now of incredible learning and growth–on both the professional and personal level,” Rupe said.

The move jumps Rupe from the 55th largest TV market to #9.

Perhaps she will run into Erik Rosales, an alumnus of Fresno TV stations, now Capitol Hill reporter nationally for EWTN.

Abeytia Brings Deep Voice to the Heartland

In 2011, an 17-year old Sanger kid called into KMJ radio’s “The Ray Appleton Show.” The news director fell in love with his deep voice and hired Aaron Abeytia a few months later, when he turned 18.

For ten years, Abeytia helped produce and read the top-of-the-hour newscasts. He left a year ago to pursue voice acting gigs.

But, he’s back on the air, the news anchor for KTVO, the ABC affiliate in Kirksville, MO, the 200th ranked TV media market (out of 210). The TV market (combined with Ottumwa, IA) is about 135,062 people.

KTVO is a Sinclair station, which also owns KMPH Fox 26 (and WJLA in the above story, for that matter). I would imagine in a year or so, Abeytia would have a great chance of returning home.

And, if you’ve never heard his voice, click below. Hard to believe he is only 29.

He doesn't see it his job to "hold public officials accountable," but does see it to provide readers (and voters) the information needed to make intelligent choices. Taub has been honored with several writing awards from the California News Publishers Association. He's just happy to have his stories read. Joining GV Wire in 2016, Taub covers politics, government and elections, mainly in the Fresno/Clovis area. He also writes columns about local eateries (Appetite for Fresno), pro wrestling (Off the Bottom Rope), and media (Media Man). Prior to joining the online news source, Taub worked as a radio producer for KMJ and PowerTalk 96.7 in Fresno. He also worked as an assignment editor for KCOY-TV in Santa Maria, California, and KSEE-TV in Fresno. He has also worked behind the scenes for several sports broadcasts, including the NCAA basketball tournament, and the Super Bowl. When not spending time with his family, Taub loves to officially score Fresno Grizzlies games. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Taub is a die-hard Giants and 49ers fan.
