Hard Rock Hotel and Indian Gaming Casino Off South Highway 99 Clears Big Hurdle
Share
Gov. Gavin Newsom gave the thumbs-up Monday to the proposed Hard Rock Hotel and Casino project off of Highway 99 about 25 minutes south of Bakersfield by signing a tribal gaming compact.
The Tejon Tribe’s hotel-casino will sit on 52 acres. Administrative offices, a healthcare facility, housing, and supporting infrastructure will comprise nearly 270 acres. The tribe has about 1,200 members.
It is estimated that the $600 million project will create more than 4,900 jobs and 400 hotel rooms as well as meeting and convention spaces. In addition, Kern County will receive nearly $218 million in revenue over a 20-year period.
