Firefighters in Kern County rescued 10 puppies after extinguishing a small fire on the side of a home Friday.

Engine 25 responded to the reported structure fire and found flames burning along the exterior of the house. With support from Engine 32, crews brought the fire under control using a hose line deployed to the rear of the structure.

While checking for remaining hot spots, firefighters discovered 10 puppies hiding safely beneath the home. All were unharmed and were reunited with their owner.
