A teacher was shot by a 15-year-old student Monday morning at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Texas, the Comal County Sheriff’s Office said.

The teacher was taken to a San Antonio hospital, and authorities have not released an update on her condition. The student involved died at the scene, officials said.

Law enforcement said the situation is contained, and there is no ongoing threat to students.

Hill Country College Preparatory High School was placed on lockdown, and students were safely transported to a local middle school to reunite with their parents.

Deputies from the Comal County Sheriff’s Office were assisting the Bulverde Police Department with the investigation, which is ongoing.
