A 64-year-old man was arrested Monday after allegedly hitting his partner in the head and firing a gun as the victim fled, authorities said.
Calvin Hackett was taken into custody after the victim positively identified him, Fresno police told GV Wire. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., where the couple — who live together and are in a dating relationship — were involved in a domestic disturbance.
According to police, the victim reported being struck by the 220-pound Hackett three times in the head with a closed fist and being fired at twice while fleeing. The victim was able to call 9-1-1.
Officers executed a search warrant at the scene and recovered a handgun and a bottle containing what appeared to be methamphetamine. Hackett has prior felony convictions, police said.
Police said they weren’t identifying the location of the alleged attack because it involved domestic violence.
Hackett was booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, willful discharge of a firearm, weapons charges, and narcotics possession, including possession while armed. His bail totals $185,000.
