A motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning in a head-on collision with a vehicle on Reed Avenue in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded around 6 a.m. to reports of a two-vehicle crash on Reed Avenue north of Annadale Avenue, where they found a 2018 Lexus and a 2022 Honda motorcycle involved in a head-on collision.
Preliminary investigation indicates the Lexus was traveling southbound when the driver approached slower traffic and attempted to pass by entering the northbound lane, where the vehicle collided with the northbound motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was ejected and suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
The driver of the Lexus was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating with investigators.
Authorities said alcohol or drug impairment does not appear to be a factor.
The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
