A house fire on the 5000 block of E. Huntington Avenue was reported Tuesday afternoon after neighbors called emergency services around 2:20 p.m., reporting explosions and cries for help, the Fresno Fire Department reported.

Firefighters arriving at the single-story residence found heavy smoke and quickly initiated suppression efforts. Crews also discovered one person who had been pulled from the home and was in distress.

Firefighters provided medical aid before the individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, the agency said.

Their condition was not immediately known.

The fire was contained to a portion of the home, though smoke damage extended throughout the structure, officials said.

A total of 26 firefighters responded to the incident and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
