GV Wire’s Edward Smith talks with KMPH Fox 26 “Great Day” anchor Karl Cooke about the city of Fresno’s lawsuit against the Trump administration.

City Attorney Andrew Janz, lead attorney for the suit, said in the complaint that the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Department of the Interior illegally rewrote grant eligibility rules to promote Trump’s political agenda, violating the Constitution by taking power away from Congress.

DHS and DOJ have put restrictions on grants using Trump’s executive orders on DEI, immigration, and gender interpretations.

Other plaintiffs in the lawsuit include Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Redwood City, Beaverton, Oregon, and Stockton. Counties include San Diego, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara.
