Ukraine does not feel abandoned by the U.S. government, its ambassador to the United States said, adding that she expected President Donald Trump to discuss ending Russia’s war in Ukraine during his State of the Union speech later on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Olga Stefanishyna also said she received a demarche from the U.S. State Department recently after attacks by Ukraine on Russian port of Novorossiysk affected U.S. interests in Kazakhstan. Most of Kazakhstan’s oil is sent to Novorossiysk for export.
“We have heard from the Department of State that we should refrain from… attacking American interests,” she said.
