Firefighters contained a large structure fire at a Hanford truck parts business Tuesday evening after the building’s owner escaped through a window as flames spread through the attic, the Hanford Fire Department said in a statement.
Hanford firefighters responded to the blaze at approximately 4:45 p.m. in the 8400 block of East Lacey Boulevard. The building houses Premier Truck Parts and Hanford Hoses & Hitches.
Crews encountered fire in the building’s attic upon arrival. The owner and operator was inside when the fire broke out and escaped through a window, according to the fire department.
Despite initial challenges from high winds, firefighters managed to contain the fire within 30 minutes. The blaze caused major damage to the structure.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
Ten Hanford firefighters responded to the incident, assisted by eight personnel from the Kings County Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
‘The Three Es’
Following the incident, the Hanford Fire Department issued a reminder to the local business community about fire prevention, emphasizing what it calls “the three Es”: multiple clearly marked exits, functioning and clearly marked extinguishers, and avoiding overuse or overloading of electrical cords and extension cords.
