A Madera man was sentenced to three years in federal prison Monday for possessing a firearm as a felon and for having counterfeit U.S. Postal Service keys, authorities said.
Brian Stan Hindman, 50, was arrested last July during a traffic stop for an outstanding state burglary warrant, U.S. Attorney Eric Grant said.
Officers found Hindman with a 9 mm Ruger pistol, six counterfeit postal keys, and multiple driver’s licenses and debit cards in other people’s names.
Hindman is barred from owning firearms due to several prior felony convictions, for which he served more than four years in state prison.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph D. Barton and Arelis M. Clemente.
