Three Hanford schools were briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday morning because of police activity in the area, authorities said.

The City of Hanford and the Hanford Police Department said John F. Kennedy, Lee Richmond, and Shelly Baird schools were locked down as a precaution for student safety.

Officials said the activity was not related to the school campuses.

All lockdowns were later lifted and there was no further threat, authorities said.
