Visalia police warned drivers to slow down and use extreme caution Thursday morning as thick fog severely limited visibility across the city.

Officers are on the scene at multiple locations due to hazardous driving conditions, including the intersections of Plaza Drive and Ferguson Avenue, Kibler Avenue and Plaza Drive, Riggin Avenue and Shirk Street, and Goshen Avenue and Chinowth Street, the Visalia Police Department said.

Police urged motorists to avoid the affected areas if possible, reduce speeds, increase following distances and turn on headlights while traveling through the city.

Authorities said the precautions are necessary to protect drivers and others on the road as fog conditions persist.
