Clovis police are investigating a homicide after a man who was severely beaten earlier this month died at a hospital, authorities said.
Police said this is Clovis’ third homicide of 2025.
The victim was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Geoffrey Bernardi, 37, of Clovis.
Police said Bernardi was the victim of an aggravated battery that occurred just before 1 a.m. Thursday near the Dry Creek canal at Barstow and Peach avenues.
Officers responded to the area for a report of a battery and found Bernardi with severe injuries and no one else around, police said. Detectives and crime scene personnel spent the night at the scene investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Bernardi passed away at the hospital this afternoon, police said, elevating the case to a homicide investigation. The suspect remains unknown and outstanding.
