A Parlier police officer died early Sunday after being involved in a traffic collision while driving to work in southern Tulare County, authorities said.

Officer Jesus Dario Corona, 29, of the Porterville area, was involved in the crash in the 13500 block of Avenue, the Parlier Police Department said. Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, emergency medical crews and the California Highway Patrol responded, but Corona died at the scene.

The CHP is investigating the collision, and no additional details have been released.

Corona is survived by his wife and 6-year-old daughter, both of Porterville, as well as his parents, two sisters of Terra Bella and a brother of Fresno.

He had served with the Parlier Police Department for about two years, working as a patrol officer and previously as a school resource officer at Parlier High School.

Service details will be announced once arrangements are made.
