A 77-year-old Auberry man with Alzheimer’s disease who went missing was found safe Saturday, authorities said.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said its Search and Rescue team located Bobby Wilcox about a quarter mile from his home in an area overgrown with trees and bushes.

He was in good health and has since been reunited with his family.

Deputies began searching for Wilcox after family members reported him missing Saturday morning, saying he had likely walked away from his home on Honey Lane late Friday night.

Wilcox, who is diabetic and has poor vision, did not have his medication, glasses or cell phone with him when he disappeared, the sheriff’s office said.
