The Los Angeles Rams are coming off of a 27-21 over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, and now they’ll take on the San Francisco 49ers for a Thursday night NFC West battle at SoFi Stadium.
Los Angeles played arguably their best game of the season against the Colts, as their offense was strong, and their defense forced some turnovers. San Francisco lost in Week 4, falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars despite getting quarterback Brock Purdy back for the matchup.
There will be plenty of eyes on the Rams in this game for NFL purposes, but they also have multiple fantasy-relevant players who are in consideration to start in most leagues. As Los Angeles prepares for their fifth game of the year, let’s look at what fantasy owners should do with their Rams in Week 5.
QB Matthew Stafford: Start
Stafford currently sits as the 12th-best quarterback in fantasy football this year, totaling 72.16 points through four games. With three quarterbacks above him either on their bye (Caleb Williams and Jordan Love) or injured (Lamar Jackson), the Rams quarterback should be in contention to start.
RB Kyren Williams: Start
Rushing for 303 yards and a touchdown on 4.5 yards per attempt and catching eight passes for an additional 52 yards and a score through the first four weeks of the season has Williams as a top-10 running back in fantasy football. With the 49ers giving up 125 yards and a touchdown to Travis Etienne last week, Williams should have a big game.
WR Puka Nacua: Start
Nacua leads the league in receptions (42) and receiving yards (503). Put him in your lineup and leave him there unless he’s hurt.
WR Davante Adams: Start
Adams has caught a touchdown in three straight games, while catching 17 passes for 269 yards on the season. He’ll likely draw San Francisco’s top cornerback Deommodore Lenoir in coverage on Thursday, but he should still see his fair share of targets.
TE Tyler Higbee: Sit
Higbee has six catches for 52 yards on the year, with all six receptions coming in just two games. If his every-other-week trend continues, he won’t catch a pass in Week 5. He’s currently doubtful for the matchup, but if he does play, he shouldn’t be in your lineup.
D/ST: Start
Purdy is out this week, along with tight end George Kittle and the wide receiver quartet of Brandon Aiyuk, Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings and Jordan Watkins.
This leaves the 49ers with Mac Jones throwing to Demarcus Robinson, Kendrick Bourne, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore. That sounds like an easy day for any defense.
