Clovis police say they have arrested one suspect and are searching for another in two ongoing organized retail theft investigations that spanned multiple stores in Clovis and Fresno.

Police said they investigated 333 organized retail theft cases and made 247 arrests during the first half of 2025.

Detectives arrested Sean Byer, 37, of Clovis on multiple felony charges after serving a search warrant at a home in Clovis on Wednesday, police said.

During the search, officers recovered evidence linked to the theft ring.

Investigators say both suspects had been stealing merchandise from stores including Target, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Harbor Freight, and Guitar Center, then selling the stolen goods to a Clovis business, Cell Now, over the summer.

Following the arrest, detectives visited Cell Now at Ashlan and Fowler avenues in Clovis, where employees cooperated and turned over nearly $20,000 in stolen goods that had been sold to them, according to police.

Authorities are still searching for Daniel Duncan, 45, of Pennsylvania, who is wanted for multiple theft-related crimes and has five local arrest warrants.
