A parolee accused of firing multiple rounds at a woman during a domestic violence incident in Chowchilla has been arrested in East Palo Alto, authorities said.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office said Jose Gonzales Maciel, 43, fled the scene of the Sunday shooting, which also involved child endangerment.

Deputies with the Madera Special Enforcement Team tracked Maciel to East Palo Alto, where he was arrested Tuesday with the help of local police.

A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered.

Maciel, a convicted felon and parolee at large, was booked into Madera County Jail on charges including attempted murder, child endangerment and criminal threats.

Authorities thanked the East Palo Alto Police Department for its assistance in apprehending what they described as a dangerous suspect.
