Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw announced Thursday he will retire at the end of the 2025 MLB season, closing out one of the most decorated careers in baseball history, CBS Sports reported.
The three-time Cy Young Award winner and 2014 National League MVP will make his final regular-season start at Dodger Stadium on Friday against the San Francisco Giants in a game with postseason implications.
“His is a truly legendary career, one that we know will lead to his induction in the Baseball Hall of Fame,” Dodgers owner Mark Walter said.
Drafted seventh overall in 2006, Kershaw has spent his entire 18-year career with the Dodgers, compiling a 2.54 ERA, more than 3,000 strikeouts and helping deliver World Series titles in 2020 and 2024.
Manager Dave Roberts said Kershaw will be on the Dodgers’ postseason roster as the team looks to secure its 12th division crown in 13 years.
