With temperatures projected to reach or exceed 105 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday, cooling centers will open across Fresno and Clovis to provide relief from the extreme heat.

The National Weather Service in Hanford issued the high-temperature forecast, prompting both cities to activate heat response measures.

In Fresno, three community centers will be open to the public from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday:

• Ted C. Wills Community Center, 770 N. San Pablo Ave.
• Mosqueda Community Center, 4670 E. Butler Ave.
• Maxie L. Parks Community Center, 1802 E. California Ave.

Fresno Area Express will provide free transportation along its normal bus routes to the cooling centers while they are in operation, the city of Fresno said in a social media post.

Clovis Partners With Sierra Vista Mall

In Clovis, Sierra Vista Mall is again partnering with the city of Clovis and the Clovis Fire Department to serve as a cooling site when NWS predicts temperatures of 105 degrees or higher.

Residents are welcome to cool off at the mall, located at 1050 Shaw Ave., Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Complimentary water is available at the management office or through mall security, the city said in a social media post.

Non-service animals are not permitted inside.

Clovis Transit will offer free rides to the mall via Stageline’s Route 50 or the Round Up service.
