Two people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after an SUV crashed into a Fresno business near Shaw and Wishon avenues — and investigators say both were behind the wheel.

The California Highway Patrol and Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to a solo-vehicle crash involving an SUV that struck a building, authorities said on Tuesday.

While initially believed to be a single-driver incident, the investigation revealed a rare twist: both the driver and the passenger were under the influence and both were in control of the vehicle.

According to officials, the passenger attempted to steer while the vehicle was in motion, ultimately causing the SUV to veer into the business.

Both individuals were arrested for DUI.

Authorities reminded the public that driving under the influence is illegal and dangerous — regardless of which seat you’re in.
