The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office reported that Caleb Quick, 18, was the young man who died. Quick was a Clovis Online School student.
Original Story
An 18-year-old died in a shooting Wednesday night outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Clovis, prompting an ongoing investigation by police.
Clovis police said several 911 calls came in around 8:57 p.m. reporting gunfire in the parking lot of the restaurant near Willow and Nees avenues.
When officers arrived, they found the victim who had been shot at least once. The victim was taken to a local hospital. The Clovis Police Department confirmed that the victim died at the hospital.
The suspect was last seen fleeing the area dressed in all black, wearing a black hoodie and carrying a handgun, police said.
Clovis detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene to gather evidence and determine what led up to the shooting.

Clovis Unified’s Chief Communication Officer Kelly Avants issued the following statement Thursday morning:
“The news that one of our Clovis Online School students was the victim of a shooting last night hits our student and educational community hard, and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.
The student who was killed was a current senior at our charter school Clovis Online School and previously attended Buchanan High School. We are a connected community, and we know that students across our campuses may be personally impacted or have witnessed this incident.
Today, we have taken extra steps to support our students with emotional wellness resources on campus along with extra campus police officers on many of our school sites to assure our parents of the safety of our schools. Our schools have also provided information to parents about support available to their children.
We appreciate the partnership and support of Chief Fleming and the City of Clovis Police Department as they work around the clock on the ongoing investigation into this crime, and our Chief Mayberry and our Clovis Unified police officers for their support of our students and educational team.
