A driver crashed into a utility pole Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Goshen Avenue and Plaza Drive, causing significant traffic delays, the Visalia Fire Department said.

The Visalia Fire Department and Visalia Police Department responded to the scene shortly after noon following reports of a vehicle collision.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the driver had already exited the vehicle. The utility pole was destroyed in the crash, and traffic in the area remains heavily impacted as crews work to clear the scene and make repairs.

Officials are urging the public to avoid the area until further notice.’
