Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred early Monday on Marks Avenue, just south of Highway 180, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded around 12:04 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the southbound lane of Marks Avenue.
Preliminary findings indicate an unknown vehicle hit the man while traveling in the same lane, then left the scene.
The pedestrian was found approximately 200 feet from the point of impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has not been identified but is described as a transient male between 30 and 45 years old.
There were no known witnesses to the crash, and investigators found limited physical evidence at the site.
