Fresno Housing has teamed up with Beyond Housing Foundation and CalViva to provide financial support to Fresno Housing program participates and African American students pursuing academic goals.

Three types of scholarships cover various academic pursuits: Education Advancement Scholarship, High School Equivalency (GED) Program Support, and HAW Fifty–Six.
The scholarship deadlines of Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, are quickly approaching, and Fresno Housing encourages those eligible to apply now.
The Education Advancement Scholarship and GED Program Support are available to anyone participating in a Fresno Housing program. This includes living in public housing, housing developments, or a housing choice voucher holder or household member.
“We are committed to all of our residents achieving whatever their goals are regarding educational obtainment,” said Tyrone Roderick Williams, CEO of Fresno Housing.
The HAW Fifty-Six scholarship is open to all African American students, providing financial support in increments of $2,000 or $5,000.

Education Advancement Scholarship
The Education Advancement Scholarship supports those in or entering higher education or training programs.
“Words cannot express how meaningful it was to be a recipient of the Education Advancement Scholarship. … This support has made such a difference in my life,” said Rocio Chavez, a recent Fresno State graduate.
Chavez obtained a degree in liberal studies and is pursuing her dream job as a second-grade teacher.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited institution or higher education and have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
The application requires a personal statement or video, letter of recommendation, and proof of registration. Apply here.
GED Program Support
The GED Program Support celebrates the achievement of obtaining a GED, offering a one-time financial boost.
Applicants must be age 18 or older and supply a personal statement or video. You can Apply here.

HAW Fifty-Six Scholarship
The HAW Fifty-Six Scholarship provides financial support to local African American students pursuing higher education.
The scholarship honors three friends from Southwest Fresno who graduated together. It aims to equip individuals pursuing a career, undergraduate, or graduate degree.
Students from all areas are welcome to apply with special encouragement given to those with a connection to Southeast, South Fresno, the 93706-zip code, or Edison High School.
