Fresno County recently split its Internal Services Department into two branches. And with that split comes two new hires.

On Tuesday, supervisors approved hiring Raymond Hunter as director of general services and Michael Kerr as chief information officer and director of information technology services.

Kerr, Hunter Come to Fresno From Southern California

Hunter came to Fresno by way of Los Angeles, where he served as the chief of real estate, contracts, and logistics for the Los Angeles Department of Social Services. There, he oversaw 100 staff members and helped develop 200 agreements worth $600 million annually.

He also helped implement the $15.5 million annual agreement with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. Hunter also has a background in human resource management.

The General Services Department oversees facilities and fleet management for the county, assisting with purchasing for the county’s various departments.

Kerr, the county’s new chief information officer, most recently served as deputy chief information officer for the county of Ventura.

Over 19 years before that in various IT roles, he oversaw numerous data systems with various governments. He led a project better connecting police agencies with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. He also spearheaded a $44 million initiative upgrading servers and networks for that county’s criminal justice system.

Kerr and Hunter begin their roles Monday, March 31.
