A 28-year-old Fresno man was sentenced Friday to 200 years to life in state prison for a 2021 double murder, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Deandrea Marquelez Foster, a career criminal, received the sentenced for the murders of of Michelle Johnson, 50, and Charlotte Ethridge, 21, both of Fresno.

Foster pleaded no contest to two counts of murder, acknowledging personal gun enhancements and admitting to two prior strike convictions for robbery in 2013 and 2017.

The double homicide occurred April 9, 2021, after Johnson went to check on her goddaughter, Ethridge, upon hearing a disturbance at her residence.

Foster confronted Johnson at the doorway and a verbal altercation ensued.

He shot Johnson in the breezeway of the complex before turning the gun on Ethridge, killing her inside the residence. Foster fled the scene but was apprehended by Fresno police two days later.

At the time of the murders, Foster was on Post Release Community Supervision and had an extensive criminal record dating to 2009.

His prior convictions include multiple gun possession charges in 2016 and 2019. While in custody at Fresno County Jail, Foster was charged with battery causing serious bodily injury after assaulting another inmate in 2023.

He pleaded no contest to that charge in October 2024 and was sentenced to three years in state prison.
