The Central Unified School District Board of Trustees announced the departure of Superintendent Ketti Davis on Wednesday, citing a mutual separation agreement that allows the district to transition to new leadership.

In a statement, the board said the decision was made to ensure the district remains focused on academic excellence, high expectations, and continuous improvement.

The board acknowledged Davis’ three decades of service to Central Unified, including her two-year tenure as superintendent, and extended well wishes for her future.

Dr. Tami Boatright, the assistant superintendent of educational services and a 32-year district veteran, will assume the role of administrator in charge while the board searches for an interim superintendent.

A special session will be scheduled soon to determine Davis’ official successor, the board announcement stated.

Ketti Released a Statement

In a statement, Ketti expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the district, calling it “one of the greatest honors” of their career.

Here is her statement: “Serving as superintendent has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished together. I am deeply grateful to the Central Unified community and our dedicated team for their unwavering support, passion, and commitment to our students.

Over the past 27 years — nearly four of them as superintendent, including one as interim — I have had the privilege of witnessing the incredible growth and resilience of our district. Together, we rebuilt our foundation, renewed our focus on serving children, and stayed true to our mission. Central Unified is home to truly amazing students!

I have served alongside dedicated educators and staff who pour their hearts into making a difference for students and the community. Their passion and commitment inspire me.

While this chapter is coming to a close, my journey in education is far from over. I look forward to new opportunities that will allow me to continue advocating for students and supporting the educators who shape their futures.

For now, I plan to take a moment to pause and enjoy time with family and friends. … As I step away from this role, I do so with a heart full of gratitude for the incredible experiences, relationships, and memories that Central Unified has given me. The strength of this community, the dedication of our educators, and the boundless potential of our students have been a constant source of inspiration.“
