Students from California Health Sciences University in Clovis will get hands-on medical training from Saint Agnes Medical Center.
Third-year students from the school of osteopathy will do core clinical rotations at the hospital through the Saint Agnes Graduate Medical Education Residency Program, a release from the hospital stated.
Saint Agnes physicians will still teach fourth-year medical students for elective clinical rotation in sub-specialties.
“Saint Agnes and CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine have established a strategic partnership to advance medical education by offering high-quality medical student rotations within our resident teaching services,” said Mehdi Hakimipour, MD, Designated Institutional Official and Chair of Saint Agnes Graduate Medical Education. “This collaboration aims to strengthen local ties, enhance undergraduate medical education and promote physician retention in our community.”

Partnership Aims to Alleviate Valley’s Physician Shortage
The hospital has residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, transitional year, and a sports medicine fellowship program. The goal for the hospital and the college, according to the news release, is to grow the number of physicians in the Valley.
“Saint Agnes is a long-time partner of CHSU and we have a shared vision to provide excellent medical education to increase recruitment and retention of physicians with a heart to serve our Central Valley patients,” says Florence T. Dunn, President of California Health Sciences University.
Started in 2020, CHSU received accreditation in 2024 while also graduating its first class that year.
