GV Wire’s Edward Smith talks with KMPH Fox 26 “Great Day” anchor Karl Cooke about the duopoly between Visa and Mastercard and the exorbitant transaction fees charged to customers.
Potential new regulations from Congress may force credit card companies to decrease the high fees, Smith explained.
Card companies have pushed back and say those fees help cover the costs of fraud and identity theft. Also, if new regulations are implemented, the “rewards” that credit card companies offer may be reduced.
