Fresno police arrested 13 drivers on suspicion of DUI during an enforcement operation on Saturday, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.

Drivers convicted of a first-time DUI offense face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended license, the department said.

Another DUI enforcement operation is scheduled for Saturday, with additional patrols and checkpoints planned throughout the year.

The program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
