Dallas Jenkins, the creator and director of the television series “The Chosen,” is the keynote speaker at the Fresno Clovis Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Fresno Convention Center Exhibit Hall.

Jenkins is credited with revitalizing faith-based content in the entertainment industry through the series that depicts the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. It got made through crowdfunding, and it has reached more than 770-million-episode views in 175 countries. It’s the most successful crowdfunded TV series or film project in history.

It’s fifth season premieres in March, and Jenkins will share a preview with attendees.

Jenkins’ Success in Faith-Based Entertainment

He also directed the holiday film “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” It made $40 million at the box office on a $10 million budget while receiving critical acclaim.

He’s been in the business the past 25 years. He made The Hollywood Reporter’s “50 Most Powerful TV Producers” list and was among Variety’s 500 most influential leaders in media and entertainment in 2024.

Last December, ABC News profiled Jenkins seeking to learn what was fueling the public’s desire to see biblical stories play out on screen.

History and Impact of the Prayer Breakfast

Beginning in the 1940s, the event has become one of the Valley’s biggest annual community gatherings. The event’s primary mission is “to lift our communities in prayer; to see our Christian community united and prayerfully supportive of our civic leaders; to see 100 of our local pastors attend the prayer breakfast.”

Over 2,000 guests are expected to attend. Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy spoke last year.
