The Fresno Police Department will hold DUI patrols on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., targeting drivers suspected of impaired driving, police said in a news release.
Authorities reported arresting six drivers for DUI during their last patrol. They also cited 21 individuals and screened 407 vehicles.
The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office reported in a Tuesday news release that in just seven days, three crashes have resulted in seven lives lost due to impaired drivers.

Authorities warn that impairment isn’t limited to alcohol consumption. Some prescription and over-the-counter medications can affect a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely.
Officials also remind residents that while marijuana use is legal in California, driving under its influence remains illegal.
A first-time DUI conviction carries steep consequences, including an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended license, police said.
