A three-car collision during a large anti-deportation protest on Blackstone Avenue prompted Fresno police to close down a portion of the street Sunday afternoon.

Hundreds of protesters gathered on foot and in vehicles to demonstrate against deportations, causing significant traffic disruptions.

The crash occurred on the southbound lanes of Blackstone Avenue, just past Nees Avenue, police said.

The collision involved three vehicles and resulted in two individuals being hospitalized. Fresno police reported that the injuries were not life-threatening.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a black car, fled the scene on foot before paramedics tended to their front seat passenger. The driver remains at large, police said.

Authorities are investigating the incident and urged anyone with information about the driver or the collision to come forward.

The protest and subsequent collision caused delays in the area, with southbound Blackstone Avenue being blocked off at Nees Avenue.
