Fresno Yosemite International Airport is back at normal operation after being shut down for an hour for “an unidentified item” found during the screening process Thursday morning.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the area was temporarily evacuated,” airport spokesperson Vikkie Calderon said in an email. “The Fresno Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit responded to the scene and conducted an examination of the item.”

The discovery took place around 11 a.m., the airport said. About an hour later, the terminal and ticketing area reopened, with “minimal impact to flight operations.”

Airport officials did not have more details about what was discovered that triggered the evacuation.

The departure/arrival information on the airport’s website shows some flights delayed by an hour.
