Detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened early Saturday, the Fresno Police Department said in a Monday morning statement.

Officers responded to a call at 6:50 a.m. and found Gregory Delacruz, 46, unresponsive inside his residence near Fillmore and Barton avenues.
Delacruz, who had multiple stab wounds, died at the scene despite emergency efforts from first responders.

Homicide investigators learned that Delacruz lived at the home with family.
He reportedly woke one of the occupants and informed them that he had been assaulted before asking them to call 9-1-1. Authorities say an unknown individual, wearing a dark-colored hoodie, was seen leaving the residence after the stabbing.

Detectives believe Delacruz and the suspect were acquainted. Investigators are seeking video footage that may have captured the suspect fleeing the scene.
