Nine people were arrested for driving under the influence during a DUI checkpoint in Fresno on Saturday, the Fresno Police Department said in a news release.

The checkpoint, located at Clovis and Lamona avenues, ran from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
There were 18 drivers cited for operating a vehicle with an unlicensed or suspended/revoked license and a total of 319 vehicles were stopped during the operation.

The next DUI enforcement operation will be on Dec. 7, authorities said.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
