What if your gut could talk?

Dr. Susan Lynch will answer that question and many more at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno.

Lynch is a professor of gastroenterology medicine and director of the Benioff Center for Microbiome Medicine at the UCSF School of Medicine.

And, she is the fourth speaker in the 2022-23 San Joaquin Valley Town Hall lecture series.

“The field of modern microbiome science is only about 15 years old, but what we’ve learned in that time is absolutely staggering,” says Lynch.

“We thought for a long time that microbes in the gut simply help us digest foods. We’re now beginning to understand  how microbial activities in the gut and elsewhere influence cell types and ultimately the health of the host. … Gut health controls how you feel, perform, and live.”

On Wednesday, she will also highlight microbiome research findings pertaining to allergies and asthma, which are prevalent in the Valley.

Tickets, priced at $60, are available online at this link or at the Saroyan Box Office.
