According to new CNN polls, Vice President Kamala Harris has taken the lead over former President Donald Trump in two crucial swing states. The surveys, conducted by SSRS, reveal Harris holding a 6-point advantage in Wisconsin and a 5-point edge in Michigan among likely voters.
Harris Gains Ground in Key Battleground States
In Wisconsin, Harris garnered 51% support compared to Trump’s 45%, while in Michigan, she led with 48% to his 43%. These results mark an improvement for Harris compared to previous polls in these battleground states.
The situation in Pennsylvania, another key “blue wall” state, shows a dead heat with both candidates tied at 48% support among likely voters.
Interestingly, when asked about their motivations, a majority of Harris supporters in all three states said their vote was more in favor of her than against Trump.
On the other hand, Trump’s base appears more solidly behind him. In Michigan, 76% of his supporters said their vote was for Trump rather than against Harris. Similar trends were observed in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The polls also indicated a high level of voter commitment, with over 90% of likely voters in all three states saying their minds were made up about their choice.
These results come at a critical time in the campaign, potentially shaping strategies for both candidates in the final stretch before the election.
