Two lawsuits filed by a Fresno State student and a former employee allege that the California State University system and former administrators violated state law by mishandling their reports of sexual assault and harassment, USA Today reported Tuesday.
The suits were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of student Stephanie Ocampo, who claimed that the university failed to protect her after she reported a sexual assault on campus, and former employee Terry Wilson, who claimed that former administrator Frank Lamas subjected him to sexual harassment, bullying and retaliation.
Ocampo and Wilson were featured in USA Today’s investigation into the university and then-President Joseph Castro that sparked an investigation by the CSU and the creation of a task force, and led to the resignation of Castro, who is now on the faculty roster at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
