Halloween Parties, Family Activities, BOO-zey Events Provide Treats for the Valley

Halloween is just around the corner, bringing a weekend full of tricks and treats for all ages.

Country music star Ashley McBryde and the Latin band Los Lobos will headline local music events. Fresnoween returns to Chukchansi Park for the biggest Halloween party of the year.

Woodward Park will host family-friendly activities, including the 7th Annual Chili Cook-Off and the Fresno Donut Run.

Adults can enjoy a variety of beverages at the Tower Zombie Crawl, Walktober Fest in Old Town Clovis, and the Whiskey Festival at The Standard.

Ashley McBryde

Country singer and songwriter Ashley McBryde will perform at the Visalia Fox Theatre on Thursday. Her star continues to rise as she consistently delivers genre hits.

McBryde spent several years as an independent artist before signing with a major label in 2017. Since then, she has taken the country music scene by storm, winning a Grammy Award and receiving accolades from the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music. She has also been nominated for a Daytime Emmy.

She captured listeners’ attention with “One Night Standards” in 2019, which became her first chart-topping hit and went platinum. Her collaboration with Carly Pearce on “Never Wanted to Be That Girl” further elevated her to superstardom.

Fresnoween 2024

Halloween arrives early at Chukchansi Park on Friday for the annual Fresnoween 2024, known as Fresno’s largest Halloween costume party.

Two stages will provide music and entertainment for attendees to dance the night away, featuring the Terrace of Terror and the Haunted Concourse.

Headlining the event are artists Zomboy, Boombox Cartel, KhoMha. Dubstep music will echo throughout the evening. Guests are encouraged to come in their best costumes.

Los Lobos

Los Lobos will return to the Central Valley on Saturday at the Tower Theatre. The Mexican-American rock band from East Los Angeles has maintained a strong presence for five decades.

They achieved international success in 1987 with their rendition of ā€œLa Bamba,ā€ which peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in the United Kingdom and several other countries. The band has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards, winning four.

Tower Zombie Crawl

Saturday will transform into “The Night of the Living Dead” at the Tower Zombie Crawl in the Tower District. Instead of hunting for brains, participants will be craving alcohol. The Fresno Zombie Society hosts this annual event.

Attendees must be 21 or older, and dressing like the undead is encouraged. Some of the participating establishments include local favorites such as Goldstein’s, The Howlin’ Wolf, Bobby Salazar’s, and Sequoia Brewery. Guests are reminded to drink responsibly.

Max Amini

Comedian Max Amini will have audiences laughing at the Tower Theatre on Sunday. The actor, producer, and director gained popularity through his substantial social media following.

Amini has appeared on television shows such as NBC’s “Heroes,” Netflix’s “Real Rob” with Rob Schneider, and Comedy Central’s “Mind of Mencia.” He has established himself as a mainstay at the Hollywood Laugh Factory.

ZooBoo, Thursday-Saturday

ZooBoo will take place at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo from Thursday to Saturday. Families can enjoy fall festivities with pumpkins, a pirate ship, various activities, and plenty of candy. A drone show will light up the savanna every Thursday and Friday night.

Slice of Comedy Headlining Horacio Corchado, Friday

Stand-up comedian Horacio Corchado will perform Friday at DiCiccoā€™s in Old Town Clovis. Corchado has performed throughout the Central Valley and received training from North Hollywood Improv and TVI Actor’s Studio. He has experience in theater, film, television, and commercials in Los Angeles.

The Whole Vine Festival, Saturday and Sunday

The Whole Vine Festival, a two-day celebration of the San Joaquin Valleyā€™s agriculture, art, and community, is set to return on Oct. 19-20 at Fresno State.

The event expects to draw over 5,000 attendees, showcasing the significance of local agriculture while providing a platform for artists, musicians, and food vendors. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Walktober Fest 2024, Saturday

Walk the streets of Old Town Clovis and enjoy wine and beer tasting at Walktober Fest 2024 on Saturday. Wineries and breweries from the Central Valley will be in attendance. Live music and food trucks will enhance the festive atmosphere.

Whiskey Festival, Saturday

Indulge your senses at the 8th Annual Fresno Whiskey Festival at The Standard on Saturday. Attendees can sample a variety of whiskeys with over 50 tastings from more than 20 esteemed distilleries, including bourbon, scotch, and rye. The event will also feature crafted cocktails and gourmet bites.

Tricks & Treats, Saturday

Family fun awaits at the Tricks and Treats event at the Fresno Discovery Center on Saturday. This annual gathering features booths for kids to trick-or-treat, live entertainment, and games. Attendees can enjoy a variety of food options, ranging from sweets to Mexican cuisine. Local businesses, including Wild Water Adventure Park, will be in attendance, along with the Central Valley Fuego, the local professional soccer team.

7th Annual Chili Cook-Off, Saturday

Things will get spicy at the 7th Annual Chili Cook-Off at Woodward Park on Saturday. This event serves as a fundraiser for Avila’s Cancer Fund and offers a chance to taste a variety of chili recipes. Participants will compete for the title of “Chili Champion.” Attendees can also enjoy live music, local vendors, and a beer garden.

Fresno Donut Run, Sunday

Donuts and running may not usually go together, but they will at the Fresno Donut Run at Woodward Park on Sunday. This 5K run and walk event benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley. All participants will receive a custom Fresno Donut Run t-shirt, a finisher’s medal, and, of course, delicious post-race donuts.
