Town Hall Season Features Fonda, McMaster, Pelley, and Clovis 'Twilight' Lectures

Jane Fonda, H.R. McMaster, and Scott Pelley highlight the eight speakers a new-look San Joaquin Valley Town Hall has assembled for its 2024-2025 season.

What’s new?

A two-event “Twilight Series” in Clovis that kicks off at 7 p.m. Wednesday with McMaster, a retired Lt. Gen. who served as National Security Adviser in the Trump administration before being targeted by Donald Trump supporters such as Steve Bannon for not being loyal to Trump’s agenda. McMaster resigned his position in March 2018.

McMaster has authored three best-sellers, including the recent At War with Ourselves – My Tour of Duty in the Trump White HouseHis talk will be at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District headquarters, 808 4th St.

The second twilight lecture will feature Keller Rinaudo Cliffton, known around the world for his groundbreaking work in robotics and health care.

As the mastermind behind Zipline, Cliffton’s drones deliver life-saving medical supplies and essential consumer products.

Clifton’s “From Sky to Supply” talk is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Mercedes Edwards Theater. The theater is on the campus of Clark Intermediate School, 902 5th St., in Clovis.

Pelley Will Deliver ‘Truth Worth Telling’ in October

The other six talks have Wednesday 10:30 a.m. time slots at the William Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno.

“60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley will follow McMaster with the lecture “Truth Worth Telling” on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Pelley is a renowned investigative reporter, news anchor, and bestselling author. He has more than 40 years of experience reporting in the United States and from global hotspots such as Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

He will share stories from his reporting and offer his views on pressing global issues.

Fonda Caps the Season in April

Two-time Oscar-winning actor, bestselling author, and progressive activist Fonda’s April 16, 2025, talk is titled “Resilience, Passion, and Purpose.” She has told Town Hall organizers that she will share her vision for a brighter future.
