With the Central Valley battered by storms and Millerton Lake filling quickly, the Bureau of Reclamation decided last week to increase water releases into the San Joaquin River and Madera Canal.
This video captures the dam releases on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
Through Tuesday, Friant Reservoir was at 82% of its 520,500 acre-foot capacity — 150% of normal for the date.
A combination of heavy rains and ramped-up dam releases have resulted in the closure of Lost Lake Park in Friant.
