Police reported Wednesday that Jerrell Rogers, 22, died after being shot several times just before 11 p.m. on Sunday in southwest Fresno.
Rogers died at the scene despite life-saving measures being administered, authorities said.
Responding officers encountered Rogers after Shotspotter indicated that multiple shots had been fired near Modoc Street and Strother Avenue.
Homicide detectives learned that Rogers was walking to a neighborhood store when several males approached and chased him, ultimately shooting him. The motive for the shooting is unknown.
