Clovis officials will cut the ribbon on a new park in the Loma Vista neighborhood on Saturday and they’re celebrating with a morning of free activities and barbecue.

Ribbon Cutting Celebration

When: Saturday, July 13, 9 a.m. to noon

Where: Village Green, 2610 Encino Ave., Clovis

The 7-acre park is named Village Green and it’s at 2610 Encino Avenue in southeast Clovis near DeWolf and Gettysburg avenues.

Festivities begin with the ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. and continue until noon. The event will feature music, kids’ activities, and free barbecue, the city said in a news release.

The idea behind Village Green first took shape over 20 years ago as part of the 2003 Loma Vista Specific Plan. The neighborhood is now home to thousands of residents.

Developers fees funded the $8 million Village Green, which began construction in 2022.

Real estate experts tell GV Wire that in addition to providing nearby residents with an amenity, the new park will enhance the value of homes there by tens of thousands of dollars.

Park Envisioned as a Community Hub

Village Green, city officials said, “is the first park of its kind in Clovis” and is envisioned as a new community hub. It features an amphitheater, clock tower, food truck spaces, a water feature, open grass areas, trellises, evening lighting, walking paths, bike racks, restrooms, drinking fountains, and several seating areas.

“We are sincerely looking forward to cutting the ribbon on this long-awaited community space and welcoming our residents to enjoy all that Village Green has to offer,” said Renee Mathis, director of planning and development for Clovis.

“Village Green represents our commitment to continuing to provide new opportunities for recreation and connection as Clovis grows, and we would like to invite all in our community to come celebrate the opening of this special new space with us.”
