Infant Found Dead in Fresno Backyard Sparks Investigation

Authorities in Fresno are investigating a deceased infant found in a backyard. The cause of death is yet to be determined. (GV Wire File)

Early Tuesday at about 6:34 a.m., authorities responded to a call for assistance from a resident living in the 300 block of South Backer Avenue in Fresno, Fresno police told GV Wire.

The caller reported discovering a deceased infant in the backyard.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed the infant’s death.

The cause of death is unknown pending a determination by the Fresno County coroner, said Sgt. Felipe Uribe.

Details such as the age, gender, and race of the infant were not immediately known.

Detectives are interviewing residents of the home, neighbors, and anyone in the immediate area who may have witnessed or heard anything related to the incident.
