There’s going to be plenty of fireworks taking place this Fourth of July weekend. The Fireworks Extravaganza at Chukchansi Park and the celebration at The Pines Resort at Bass Lake are ones you won’t want to miss.

The events that are going to make the biggest explosions will be Daughtry at Chukchansi Resort and Blink-182 at the Save Mart Center.

Check out our expanded list of events at this link.

Fresno Grizzlies vs Modesto Nuts

The Fresno Grizzlies are playing a six-game series against the Modesto Nuts, with half the games at Chukchansi Park over the Fourth of July weekend. The themes for all the games celebrate what makes America awesome.

Thursday is Independence Day and Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza. An evening of baseball, community, and an explosive fireworks display will illuminate the night sky in a patriotic salute.

On Friday Chukchansi Park will pay tribute to the true champions of the community on Healthcare Heroes and First Responders Night. The evening will be dedicated to honoring the selfless dedication of those who serve and protect. It’s also Community Outreach Night, which features local organizations and nonprofits giving information about their causes throughout the concourse. The night will conclude with fireworks.

On Saturday the Grizzlies will salute our nation’s heroes with Military Appreciation Night, a special event honoring our brave men and women in uniform. It’ll be an evening of patriotic fervor, heartfelt tributes, and a celebration of the sacrifices made by our military along with fireworks.

Independence Day Celebration with Fireworks at Bass Lake

What can be more American than celebrating our nation’s birthday at the lake? The lndependence Day Celebration at Bass Lake will be the perfect opportunity to do so at The Pines Resort.

There’ll be a barbecue buffet dinner, family games, and party favors to accentuate the holiday on the gazebo deck with a great view of the lake. The Marie Wilson Band will be playing American classic tunes to get everybody in a patriotic mood. The climax of the night will be the fireworks show.

I’ve attended the event the past three years, and it is a red, white, and blue extravaganza. When Marie Wilson played, they brought the house down with their renditions of American staples that define the summer of several generations. The highlight I still remember is when they had the crowd dancing and singing to ABBA’s “Dancing Queen.” And it really doesn’t get any better than the fireworks lighting up the sky, reflecting off the lake. It’s an amazing sight.

Fresno Freedom Run

Before you grub and watch the fireworks, start the Fourth of July off with a run. It’s happening at the 22nd annual Freedom Run at Woodward Park. The event is presented by the Sierra Challenge Express Running Club.

Over the 4-mile course you’ll see hundreds of acres of trees, geese, and beautiful wildlife. It’s going to be an American flag-lined course. You either have the option of doing the 4-mile run or the 2-mile run/walk, and there’s 100 meters and quarter-mile dash for kids. The whole family can participate and enjoy.

The Central Valley Honor Flight is the beneficiary of the event, and it’s a way to honor the veterans. Participants will be provided a finisher’s medal and a race shirt.

Daughtry

Daughtry will be rocking their way to Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino this Saturday. Fronted by and named after their lead singer, Chris Daughtry, who was a finalist on the fifth season of “American Idol,” the band has been one of the big rock names of the 21st century. They’ve sold over 9 million albums and 16 million singles worldwide.

Their debut album, the self-titled “Daughtry,” was the top-selling album of 2007, producing four Top 20 Platinum-selling singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming the fastest-selling rock debut album in Soundscan history. He’s been one of the most successful acts to come out of “American Idol.”

For sure you’ll hear “Waiting for Superman,ā€ and his signature hit “Itā€™s Not Over.ā€ I saw him back in 2022 and it was a spectacular show. His songs will bring nostalgia for those that grew up with his music in the late 2000s. He performs his music with a lot of soul that you feel his passion when he sings. His love for his art has made him endure.

Blink-182

Blink-182, the seminal punk band that initiated pop-punk’s second mainstream rise in the late 90s and early 2000s, is hitting the road with their 30-city ā€œOne More Timeā€ tour. They’re bringing it to the Save Mart Center on Monday.

The band consists of bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus, guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge, and drummer Travis Barker. They were one of the top bands during my formative years with songs like “What’s My Age Again,” “All The Small Things,” “First Date,” and “I Miss You.” Expect them to bust out those jams, and they’ll be booming through the arena.

They’ve separated and have gotten back together a couple of times over the years, but now the trio is here. The rock band Pierce The Veil, with their career-defining hit “King for a Day,” will be opening up for them.

Worldwide, Blink-182 has sold 50 million albums and moved 15.3 million copies in the United States. It’s definitely going to be a rock show that you’ll remember “forever and ever.”
