Update: June 28 at 1:29PM

According to the CalFire website, the Basin Fire has expanded significantly, increasing from 5,692 acres to 7,472 acres. This marks a growth of 1,780 acres since CalFire’s last update at midnight on Friday.

Original Story

The Basin Fire, located between Balch Camp and Crabtree and north of the Green Cabin Flat Campground near the Kings River in eastern Fresno County, has significantly expanded.

According to CalFire, the fire grew from 3,548 acres on Thursday to 5,692 acres. While CalFire is providing updates, the incident is managed by the Sierra National Forest.

As of now, the fire is 0% contained, and the cause remains under investigation. The blaze began on Wednesday, just a day after the Fresno June Lightning Complex was reported.

The Basin Fire is burning in a mix of grass, light brush, and oak hardwoods. Authorities report that 200 personnel are working to bring it under control.

Evacuation orders have been issued for zones K31 and K40, prompting residents to leave their homes for safety.

Firefighters are working diligently to control the spread, but challenging conditions are making containment efforts difficult, officials said.

Local authorities urge residents to stay informed and follow evacuation guidelines to ensure their safety.
